To the editor; I am writing to tell you that, contrary to what some people have been telling voters, the OMMA as it currently stands, is not working, and Measure 33 will provide the changes to the current law that will provide safe and reliable access to medical marijuana. I was the first legal medical marijuana caregiver in Oregon,[registry card#2] and I provide medical marijuana to my wife,[card#1]. But she is one of the fortunate ones that has safe access to medical marijuana. I have worked with may patients over the past six years. Too many of the more than 10,000 registered patients don’t have a safe way to get the medicine they need to help eleviate their suffering. People like Stormy Ray and others are telling you that things are working just fine and we don’t need to improve the current law. If she is saying that the OMMA is working, then why is she going out and asking other patients if they have any "spare" medicine because she doesn’t have any? Is the OMMA really working? Not from what I have seen!! It is for this reason, and for the thousands of patients that don’t have safe accessthe medicine they need, the same medical marijuana that in 1998, the compassionate people of Oregon said they could have, that I am again asking the people to vote yes on measure 33, and give suffering people a law that will really help them to live a better quality of life. Please vote yes on measure 33. See www.vote33.org or www.yeson33.org for more information. |
