To the editor, The article of the 23rd; BROOKINGS-HARBOR CITIZENS DISCUSS BALLOT MEASURES provides a very optimistic view of the outcome for measure 33 if all citizens rationally discuss the meat of the measure. All too often, we hear that Oregon will become a drug haven and thousands of dispensaries will spring up in neighborhoods across the state. As in 1998 when the current law was passed and similar predictions made, we haven't become a drug haven and dispensaries may actually reduce the numbers of gardens around the state as patients and growers alike see the benefit of combining resources so no patient gets left behind. As a Brookings-Harbor resident back in the 70's I appreciated the commonsense approach to a citizen's concern. Reading this article shows that hasn't changed. Please vote yes on 33.
