• Welcome. This is a public meeting hosted by the Medical Cannabis Resource Centers (MERCY), a not-for-profit group of volunteers advocating for and active in the Oregon Medical Marijuana Program (OMMP).
• Introductions.
• Perry, a NORML person,; Administrator, to talk about MERCY - the who, what & how of the organization.
• William "Sonny" Watkins; Patient Resource Co-ordinator, to talk about the Patients and how cannabis is a critical part of their therapy, health and general well-being.
• News & Announcements. NOTE: Organizations are being invited to offer their literature and be available for Q&A after the main course. For example - Representatives from Voter Power will be invited to bring their OMMA/2 petitions for the table and can update interested parties on the current status of your rights to petition in Oregon. Contact Perry for more information.
• Cannabis as Medicine, About the OMMP, Joining the OMMP, Potential Issues for Patients in the Program.
• Action items:
• Minimum; Register, Vote & get everyone you know to do the same.
• Consider Hosting meetings and events where people can gather petition signatures and other activities. Check out OMMA/2. Fundraise(!) {pass the hat}
• Inform and Educate yourself and others about cannabis as medicine. Write to media, organizations and representatives and consider directing your support away from anti-OMMA groups and towards those more patient supportive.
• Support the OMMP. The Oregon Medical Marijuana Program means cost (and health!) savings for the state and individual, and is an medical option that should be available for you and yours, should the need arise.
• Question & Answer. We understand some issues may be of a personal nature and MERCY representatives will try to make themselves available to help with any individual issues on a case-by-case basis. We will also gather contact info and plan to make resources available to set appointments where more time and privacy is needed.
