ACTION; Get involved in the movement for safe and legal access to medical cannabis today. Our power comes from our collective action. Whether it's calling Congress, attending rallies, organizing a local activity or chapter, signing an online petition, or supporting federal defendants, take action today!
There are a number of medical cannabis (marijuana) bills in play in states across the US. Here we network on Ways and Means anyone can help with the effort to make each a medical marijuana state.
We need to get the word out and people contacting reps and officials and get this legislation into law. Also, lets not forget efforts at the Federal level.
NETWORK and Spread The Word, both On-Line and Off (!) ON-LINE, You can tell everybody in cyber-space by e-mailing a link to this website to them and/or (OFF-LINE> printing off the info and handing out where possible / necessary. Also phone call and read off and/or visit and hand deliver the info. You can take literature with you and approach businesses, organizations and even people on the street while you're out and about. Wear your pot-leaf shirt and register voters, as feasible. Gather signatures for any related petitions that are happening at the time as well.
This is a chain e-mail you can't refuse. Unlike most, this will actually help you - and a whole buncha others - just by passing it on.
Cannabis consumer or not - from the folks just trying to take care of themselves or a loved one to those who simply see the expensive, immoral waste of making war on the sick and dying - everyone is affected by this issue.
To accomplish this you need to first click on the following links and send a message to all the reps and media you can on the issue.
Then get everybody else to do the same. And follow up.
To do this you need to tell everybody you know.
And can confide in.
Then/or anonymously tell everybody you don't know
- or can't confide in. Yet.
Tell everybody else by Letters-to-the-Editor, displaying signage at street corners and over-passes (wear trenchcoat, fedora and sunglasses if afraid of exposure), and/or anonymously leaving literature and posting on-line at places where people are likely to find it.
Coffeeshops are good places to leave printed material and you can go to the websites of the local newspapers to post items as well. More ideas and supporting tools via the links below.
Inform, Educate, Activate
INFORM and EDUCATE. Distribute medical marijuana brochures and other literature to your friends, family, local leaders and elected officials in an effort to educate the public and garner support. Educate your community by Printing, posting and handing out Flyers and other Printables in a mall, coffee shop, laundromat, college campus, lamp post, telephone poll, business window (ask first), hospital, or anywhere people will see them. Contact these groups for some.
If you or your Organization is doing the same, please Post It or give us Feed Back.

You can also print and hand out MPP's medical marijuana brochures to your friends, family, local leaders and elected officials in an effort to educate the public and garner support.
OUTREACH and Gather TESTIMONY. Ask your doctor, clergy member, local leader, or organization you are a member of to sign a statement of principle. One way to get that done is to download MPPs medical marijuana statement of principle, print it out, and ask your doctor or other individual to sign it the next time you have the opportunity. Then send it to MPP at P.O. Box 77492, Washington, D.C. 20013.
And TESTIFY. If you are a patient or caregiver that could benefit from such a law and would like to help advance legislation by sharing your story with others. Call in to radio, TV and other media; write LTEs and contact you legislators. These groups are helping with this activity:

If you're a talk radio listener, call in and express support for medical marijuana laws. Even if the subject being discussed isn't explicitly about marijuana, many related issues can be a springboard for urging reform. For example, if the issue is health care, you can point out that treatment decisions are better off being left to patients and physicians than police and prosecutors.

In Anniston it is about the same except, Highway 21 is covered by APD, JPD, Alabama State Troopers, JSUPD, and WeaverPD. Cops will only pull you over if they need to for speeding, drunk driving, things like that. Just don’t be a dumbass.
Where to buy marijuana: In Birmingham you can find it on the southside around the fountain, or what is called Five Points. Also look around the UAB area. You can’t just come out and ask. You will know who to ask by talking and being Friendly. If you are in the Anniston for Homeland Training, you can find it. Most of the time easily than you think. The college town (Jacksonville) 9 miles north of Anniston only has three bars and alot of college students, who will be able to help you out, for a smoke. Also you can look in down town Anniston just off Noble St. If you can’t find it anywhere else.

Smoking tolerance level [1= very illegal 5=virtually legal]: 2 ---
Legislation: Possession of marijuana is a criminal, arrestable offense. For possession of an amount of one kilogram (2.2 lbs) or less, the crime is a misdemeanor, punishable by up to one year in jail and a fine of up to $2,000. For possession of any amount over one kilogram, the crime is a felony, punishable by 1 – 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000.
The sale, cultivation or manufacture of marijuana is a felony offense. If the amount is one kilogram or less, the mandatory minimum sentence is three years in prison and a fine of up to $25,000. For an amount greater than one kilogram but less than 100 lbs, the sentence is a minimum of five years in prison and a fine of up to $50,000.
For an amount up to 500 lbs, the sentence is a minimum of 15 years in prison and a fine of up to $200,000. Any amount of 1,000 lbs or greater is punishable by life without the possibility of parole.
The penalties for sale of marijuana are enhanced if the sale takes place within a three-mile radius of a school or public housing project, adding five years to the sentence for the sale. Sale to minors (under 18) can increase the penalty by 10 years to life in prison, and no suspension or probation can be granted to this sentence.
The possession or sale of drug paraphernalia is a misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail and a fine of up to $2,000. If the paraphernalia is sold to a minor at least three years younger than the seller, the penalty becomes a felony and is punishable by 2 – 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
Any conviction for possession, sale, manufacture or cultivation also results in the suspension of the offender’s driver’s license for a period of six months.
Mandatory minimum sentence: When someone is convicted of an offense punishable by a mandatory minimum sentence, the judge must sentence the defendant to the mandatory minimum sentence or to a higher sentence. The judge has no power to sentence the defendant to less time than the mandatory minimum. A prisoner serving an MMS for a federal offense and for most state offenses will not be eligible for parole. Even peaceful marijuana smokers sentenced to “life MMS” must serve a life sentence with no chance of parole.
Law enforcement: MPD is a force! they don’t play with you. if you get caught you are going to the station. But if you are cool and dont BS around then youll be str8.
Where to buy marijuana: You can find weed pretty much anywhere brothers hang out, mostly on the northside (pronouced nAWF side) trap houses*, in the down town projects, eastside apartment complexes, and westside trap houses and projects.*
Open air marijuana sales are not encouraged, unless you are with someone who knows the area.
*- Trap houses are places out of towners should not go into. If you don’t know anyone who is familiar with the nieghborhood, then just pull up in front of the house and throw the dueces to get a dealer’s attention.
Marijuana prices: most of the time you can get a good bag of low mids for 10 to 20 dollars. it’ll wieght out about 2-3.5 grams depending on side of town. High grades are pretty rare. Many dealers may try to fool you by calling their their low grade, high grade.
Marijuana brands: High reggs/ low mids.

Places that have decriminalized non-medical cannabis in the United States -
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia |
Multiple places have decriminalized non-medical cannabis in the United States; however, cannabis is illegal under federal law. Gonzales v. Raich (2005) held in a 6-3 decision that the Commerce Clause of the United States Constitution allowed the federal government to ban the use of cannabis, including medical use even if local laws allow it.
Most places that have decriminalized cannabis have civil fines, drug education, or drug treatment in place of incarceration and/or criminal charges for possession of small amounts of cannabis, or have made various cannabis offenses the lowest priority for law enforcement.

Our probation/parole reform bill, for instance, passed the House (but died in the Senate).
This year, Alabama’s legislative session begins on Feb 5. We’re busy organizing public education forums, educating policy makers, conducting trainings, developing community leaders, writing op-eds and letters to the editor and, when necessary, holding rallies and marches.

First Amendment lawsuit filed on behalf of MPP
-
Last update: August 31, 2016
|
MPP has joined forces with the Institute for Justice to bring a federal civil rights lawsuit against the state of Alabama, alleging the state is unconstitutionally pricing MPP and MPP Legislative Counsel Maggie Ellinger-Locke out of exercising our First Amendment rights.
We are asking the court to block a uniquely burdensome requirement that would require Ms. Ellinger-Locke to attend an in-person course in Montgomery if she were to send even a single advocacy email to a lawmaker. This class is only held four times a year in Montgomery, and anyone who lobbies as part of their job — including by phone or email — who cannot travel to attend it is silenced from speaking to Alabama lawmakers or risk being criminally charged. You can learn more about the suit by checking out this op-ed by lead counsel for the suit Paul Sherman.
>> Visit - http://www.mpp.org/states/alabama/
Due to this highly unusual requirement, MPP is unable to advocate improvements to Alabama’s marijuana laws. This has had the effect of chilling the right to free speech enjoyed by Maggie, MPP, and our Alabama members who are counting on us to reform some of the harshest marijuana laws in the nation. Unlike our other states’ pages, this webpage does not even include links urging supporters to write their lawmakers due to the possibility of such a link triggering penalties. For these reasons, we are grateful to the Institute for Justice for bringing this suit so that we can continue our important work as we seek to ameliorate marijuana policies.
Legislative action remains limited
|
The 2016 legislative session concluded with limited marijuana law reform action. The General Assembly adopted two sensible but modest policy proposals.
The first, Rep. Mike Ball’s HB 61, was signed into law by Gov. Robert Bentley on May 4, 2016, and builds on the 2014 passage of Carly’s Law.
That law established an affirmative defense for patients with intractable epilepsy (or their caregivers) for use of cannabidiol. HB 61 — or “Leni’s Law” — expands this law by creating an affirmative defense for the use of the oil by patients and caregivers who suffer from specified debilitating conditions that produce seizures that are resistant to conventional medicine provided the patient’s doctor recommends this course of treatment.
Carly’s law only permitted healthcare practitioners at the University of Alabama to recommend a patient for use of the oil. MPP applauds this sensible action taken by Alabama lawmakers.
The other policy was enacted on May 10, 2016 and allows for the cultivation of industrial hemp. Rep. Ken Johnson’s HB 393 excludes industrial hemp from the definition of marijuana in the state’s controlled substances law. This allows the use of industrial hemp to create cloth, food, fuel, paper, and a host of other commodities. This is a positive step forward for Alabama.
ACLU study shows Alabama’s harsh marijuana laws result in racially disproportionate arrest rates
|
Alabama has some of the harshest marijuana penalties in the country. Possession of even a single joint is punishable by up to a year of incarceration. It’s clear these laws have not been successful, and new evidence shows that Alabama’s laws are not being evenly enforced.
A 2013 study by the American Civil Liberties Union found that although blacks and whites use marijuana at nearly identical rates, blacks in Alabama are 4.4 times more likely than whites to be arrested for marijuana possession.

Informational Guide on Medical Cannabis |
If you have ever heard of the song, “Lets Go Get Stoned,” as sung by Ray Charles or Joe Cocker, you know the lyrics were referring to getting high or using cannabis aka marijuana. This mind altering drug goes by other names as well; names such as weed, pot, joint, blunt, hash and mary jane are quite common among users. Cannabis is a plant that contains a chemical called cannabinoids or cannabinolidic acids.
Another substance that is found in cannabis is THC, or Tetrahydrocannabinol, which gives the users that “high” sensation. When speaking of marijuana, the actual substance used in creating the high feeling comes from the leaves and flowering tops of the cannabis plant. Marijuana is considered to be a schedule 1 controlled substance today, because of the THC, which can be highly potent, depending upon the concentration factor of the THC.

THE REEFER MADNESS ERA, REEFER MADNESS BOOKS (Info, History) By definition, it would be a contradiction in terms to list or classify a Reefer Madness book as a work of "Non-Fiction." Thus both genres are group together here simply as "Hard Cover" books; if only to distinguish them from the "Pulp Fiction" or "Dime Store novels" discussed elsewhere. However where appropriate the terms [Fiction] and [Non-Fiction] are used.

Hawaii's law was enacted by the legislature and signed by the governor in 2000, Vermont's was enacted by the legislature and passed into law without the governor's signature in May 2004, Rhode Island's was passed into law over the governor's veto in January 2006, and New Mexico's legislation was signed into law by Governor Bill Richardson on April 2, 2007.

Proven : Cannabis is Safe Medicine
by Ian Williams Goddard | In reaction to medical cannabis access referendums on the ballots in Arizona and California, former presidents Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, and George Bush signed a letter stating that they "categorically oppose'' access to cannabis for its many proven therapeutic uses such as the prevention of blindness and epileptic seizures. Their chief concern was that legal medical access would send the message that cannabis is safe. The presidents can, however, lay their safety concerns to rest because the scientific literature overwhelmingly confirms that cannabis is both an effective and safe medicine.
The Cannabis Safety Profile. The journal PHARMACOLOGICAL REVIEWS reports that decades of research prove that, "Compared with legal drugs...marijuana does not pose greater risks." Yet based upon mortality statistics, we can safely conclude that cannabis is one of the safest medical drugs known, for, while prescription drugs, defined as safe by the FDA, kill up to 27,000 and aspirin up to 1,000 Americans per year, cannabis kills 0 per year. Examine the pros, cons, and controversies of marijuana as medicine! | Cannabis is still sending “signals of misunderstanding.”1-3 The result is an exaggeration of beneficial or deleterious effects as well as occasional intermixture of medical science with other moral categories. This book deals with health aspects of the cannabis plant and the cannabinoids while mainly factoring out societal aspects. Some authors refer to social topics that require discussion even within the bounds of a narrow handling of medicinal aspects.
