There are a number of medical cannabis (marijuana) bills in play in states across the US. Here we network on Ways and Means anyone can help with the effort to make each a medical marijuana state.
We need to get the word out and people contacting reps and officials and get this legislation into law. Also, lets not forget efforts at the Federal level.
NETWORK and Spread The Word, both On-Line and Off (!) ON-LINE, You can tell everybody in cyber-space by e-mailing a link to this website to them and/or (OFF-LINE> printing off the info and handing out where possible / necessary. Also phone call and read off and/or visit and hand deliver the info. You can take literature with you and approach businesses, organizations and even people on the street while you're out and about. Wear your pot-leaf shirt and register voters, as feasible. Gather signatures for any related petitions that are happening at the time as well.
This is a chain e-mail you can't refuse. Unlike most, this will actually help you - and a whole buncha others - just by passing it on.
Cannabis consumer or not - from the folks just trying to take care of themselves or a loved one to those who simply see the expensive, immoral waste of making war on the sick and dying - everyone is affected by this issue.
To accomplish this you need to first click on the following links and send a message to all the reps and media you can on the issue.
Then get everybody else to do the same. And follow up.
To do this you need to tell everybody you know.
And can confide in.
Then/or anonymously tell everybody you don't know
- or can't confide in. Yet.
Tell everybody else by Letters-to-the-Editor, displaying signage at street corners and over-passes (wear trenchcoat, fedora and sunglasses if afraid of exposure), and/or anonymously leaving literature and posting on-line at places where people are likely to find it.

Inform, Educate, Activate
INFORM and EDUCATE. Distribute medical marijuana brochures and other literature to your friends, family, local leaders and elected officials in an effort to educate the public and garner support. Educate your community by Printing, posting and handing out Flyers and other Printables in a mall, coffee shop, laundromat, college campus, lamp post, telephone poll, business window (ask first), hospital, or anywhere people will see them. BROADCAST and PUBLICIZE. Help get the word out by downloading and sharing MPP's public service announcements with radio stations in your area. If you're a talk radio listener, call in and express support for medical marijuana laws. For example, if the issue is health care, you can point out that treatment decisions are better off being left to patients and physicians than police and prosecutors.

Smoking tolerance level [1= very illegal 5=virtually legal]: 3 ---
Legislation: It is a crime to be under the influence of marijuana in a public place or to use marijuana in a public place, punishable by up to six months in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.
The penalty for possession of three ounces or less of marijuana is up to one year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000. Possession of greater than three ounces is a felony and punishable by up to 5 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
It is also a crime to be present in a place where the person knows that there is illegal drug activity taking place and is punishable by up to 90 days in jail and a fine of up to $300.
Possession of paraphernalia is punishable by up to one year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000. Sale or manufacture of paraphernalia is punishable by up to nine years in prison and a fine of up to $30,000.
Any second conviction for a drug offense can double the possible penalties.
Nothing has been changed on the State Code re marijuana for years. Like much of the Western US, Meth has been such a huge problem for years that it tends to be the focus of virtually all of our changes in drug law.
Law enforcement: Look: this numbering system might work rating cities in Europe, but, as this is America it should be said that IT IS ILLEGAL. No “somewhat/slightly/very illegal” distinctions would be wise. Be cool, be smart, and you will not find yourself being “slightly incarcerated”–ha ha. The laws regarding weed are neither lax or draconian–and if those words are beyond you, you’re part of why everyone thinks smokers are idiots.
Where to buy marijuana in Boise: There is no one distinct location to purchase marijuana. Boise is not a large city with as high of a demand for marijuana as Los Angeles or New York, making it difficult to find dealers on the street. The safest way is to go inside of any A&W Rootbeer restaurant, and find someone who looks like they may know about where to get some weed. A&W does not drug test it’s employees which increases the likelyhood of finding a toker employee.
another reporter added: “Since Boise is not a big city, your best bet is to go into the North End. In Idaho this neighborhoood aka what residents call “Hyde Park” is easy to score. Generally 59% of the population there smokes. All you got to do is just pretty much ask somebody on the street. Another option is to head to Camels Back Park and ask. More information: Not at all a “city” city. Metropolitan areas, or less-than-3-million-pop. cities, along with a slew of Hollywood movies might have people believing that EVERY city has “that one neighborhood” to score. It simply isn’t the case here, despite a population nearing 200,000+. It ain’t that the cops are all that vigilant, nor is it that no one buys/sells/smokes.
But–to somebody casually passing through–you’re not gonna find parking lots full of highschool kids, or the guy at some landmark whispering to passersby, or University areas reliably full of smokers who’ll tip you about whom to speak to. If you asked me, personally, if I “knew where to get weed,” even though you’re a stranger, I’d tell you.

Multiple places have decriminalized non-medical cannabis in the United States; however, cannabis is illegal under federal law. Gonzales v. Raich (2005) held in a 6-3 decision that the Commerce Clause of the United States Constitution allowed the federal government to ban the use of cannabis, including medical use even if local laws allow it.
Most places that have decriminalized cannabis have civil fines, drug education, or drug treatment in place of incarceration and/or criminal charges for possession of small amounts of cannabis, or have made various cannabis offenses the lowest priority for law enforcement.

Green Scene: Hemp Fest Aims To Educate, Entertain
Arlene Falcon hopes Moscow's 13th annual Hemp Fest dispels myths and dispenses facts about the reality of hemp.
"Hemp is such a sustainable plant with so many great attributes that get lost in the shuffle," the Hemp Fest coordinator said.
She said she hopes Hemp Fest will teach people the difference between hemp and marijuana. Both are from the same plant, cannabis, but hemp does not contain enough of the active ingredient THC to get a person high.
In addition to education, the event is about fun.
Hemp Fest includes arts and crafts that highlight hemp's many uses, like making rope and clothing. There will be information, speakers and live music. Live bands performing include Chubbs Toga, Sugar Cane, Outpost and Luau Cinder. An arts and crafts fair, drumming and fire dancing are also part of the festival.
"It's mostly just a fun day in the park with arts and crafts and a chance to meet people," Falcon said.
Idaho State Rep. Tom Trail ( R-Moscow ), will speak about medical marijuana at the event, as well as Ryan Davison, a Boise-based marijuana lobbyist and several medical marijuana patients/advocates.
Falcon said she hopes Hemp Fest will help encourage the industrial production of hemp and promote greater acceptance of medical marijuana.
"All the good attributes ( of medical marijuana ) get lost in the 'drugs are bad' thing," Falcon said.
Medical marijuana can help people with medical problems like glaucoma, irritable bowel syndrome and chemotherapy from cancer treatments, Falcon said.
"Pot has a high value medically," Falcon said. "That is the part people really need to open their eyes to."
She said the festival is a combination of playing and learning that anyone can enjoy.

Idaho’s medical marijuana policy remains stagnant

The legislative session has ended for 2016 without a single bill introduced that would have improved Idaho’s marijuana policies. Last year, the Idaho Legislature approved S1146, a bill that would have protected some seriously ill Idahoans from being convicted for possessing medical marijuana oils with very low amounts of THC. Sadly, Gov. Butch Otter vetoed the bill.
Please write your state lawmakers in support of a comprehensive medical cannabis bill. If you are a medical professional or a patient who might benefit from medical marijuana, we would like to hear from you. Additionally, if you are a law enforcement official, member of the bar, clergy member, or local official who supports this issue, please email state@mpp.org to see how you can be of special help. Under current Idaho law, an individual charged with possession of up to an ounce of marijuana faces a year in jail and/or up to a $1,000 fine. Unfortunately, this draconian law hits minority communities the hardest. In a purely, clearly politically-motivated action, three marijuana advocates in Boise, Idaho, had their children taken by Child Protective Services this week after police found marijuana in one of the family's homes.

According to an item posted today by one of the parents on Compassionate Idaho, a medical marijuana site, Lindsey Rinehart and her husband Josh Rinehart went hiking & camping deep in the Central ID mountains, with friend Sarah Caldwell. When they came back, their kids had been taken.
Officers with the Boise Police Department just happened to arrive at the house while they were gone to conduct a "Welfare Check", allegedly at the behest of a school administrator.
"The BPD intimidated our babysitter/friend and gained access to our home," Lindsey Rinehart wrote. "Upon entering, and seeing that the house was Fine, the kids are Fine, they decided to go to my room." That's where police found the marijuana that Rinehart uses to treat her MS, and decided to call Child Protective Services. Read more >>

Moms for Marijuana International. She is also a founding member of Idaho Moms for
Marijuana, founding director for Compassionate Idaho, Idaho NORML, and
the Idaho H.O.P.E. Fest.
Lindsey Rinehart is the Director, Chief Petitioner and Volunteer
Coordinator for Compassionate Idaho's Medical Marijuana Petition. She
is also a core member of the Idaho H.O.P.E. Fest Committee, and Idaho
Moms for Marijuana.
Josh Rinehart is Lindsey's husband, Director of Idaho NORML, and core
member of IdahoH.O.P.E. Fest and Compassionate Idaho.
These three non-violent, loving parents have dedicated their time, their
money, and their lives to help end Cannabis Prohibition in the State of
Idaho, and help reach others world wide.
Now they need our help!
Lindsey and Josh's two children were taken into protective custody, and
because Sarah's two children were also at the residence with the
babysitter, they were taken as well.
All three of these dedicated Cannabis warriors are physically disabled,
and receive very little to no income, and absolutely zero income from
any of their volunteer efforts in Cannabis Reform. They are all in need
of help to retain both family law and criminal law attorneys. Attorney
costs can range anywhere from $1000-$4000 per case.

If you have ever heard of the song, “Lets Go Get Stoned,” as sung by Ray Charles or Joe Cocker, you know the lyrics were referring to getting high or using cannabis aka marijuana. This mind altering drug goes by other names as well; names such as weed, pot, joint, blunt, hash and mary jane are quite common among users. Cannabis is a plant that contains a chemical called cannabinoids or cannabinolidic acids.
Another substance that is found in cannabis is THC, or Tetrahydrocannabinol, which gives the users that “high” sensation. When speaking of marijuana, the actual substance used in creating the high feeling comes from the leaves and flowering tops of the cannabis plant. Marijuana is considered to be a schedule 1 controlled substance today, because of the THC, which can be highly potent, depending upon the concentration factor of the THC.

Hawaii's law was enacted by the legislature and signed by the governor in 2000, Vermont's was enacted by the legislature and passed into law without the governor's signature in May 2004, Rhode Island's was passed into law over the governor's veto in January 2006, and New Mexico's legislation was signed into law by Governor Bill Richardson on April 2, 2007.

by Ian Williams Goddard | In reaction to medical cannabis access referendums on the ballots in Arizona and California, former presidents Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, and George Bush signed a letter stating that they "categorically oppose'' access to cannabis for its many proven therapeutic uses such as the prevention of blindness and epileptic seizures. Their chief concern was that legal medical access would send the message that cannabis is safe. The presidents can, however, lay their safety concerns to rest because the scientific literature overwhelmingly confirms that cannabis is both an effective and safe medicine.
The Cannabis Safety Profile. The journal PHARMACOLOGICAL REVIEWS reports that decades of research prove that, "Compared with legal drugs...marijuana does not pose greater risks." Yet based upon mortality statistics, we can safely conclude that cannabis is one of the safest medical drugs known, for, while prescription drugs, defined as safe by the FDA, kill up to 27,000 and aspirin up to 1,000 Americans per year, cannabis kills 0 per year.
