There are a number of medical cannabis (marijuana) bills in play in states across the US. Here we network on Ways and Means anyone can help with the effort to make each a medical marijuana state.
We need to get the word out and people contacting reps and officials and get this legislation into law. Also, lets not forget efforts at the Federal level.
NETWORK and Spread The Word, both On-Line and Off (!) ON-LINE, You can tell everybody in cyber-space by e-mailing a link to this website to them and/or (OFF-LINE> printing off the info and handing out where possible / necessary. Also phone call and read off and/or visit and hand deliver the info. You can take literature with you and approach businesses, organizations and even people on the street while you're out and about. Wear your pot-leaf shirt and register voters, as feasible. Gather signatures for any related petitions that are happening at the time as well.
This is a chain e-mail you can't refuse. Unlike most, this will actually help you - and a whole buncha others - just by passing it on.
Cannabis consumer or not - from the folks just trying to take care of themselves or a loved one to those who simply see the expensive, immoral waste of making war on the sick and dying - everyone is affected by this issue.
To accomplish this you need to first click on the following links and send a message to all the reps and media you can on the issue.
Then get everybody else to do the same. And follow up.
To do this you need to tell everybody you know.
And can confide in.
Then/or anonymously tell everybody you don't know
- or can't confide in. Yet.
Tell everybody else by Letters-to-the-Editor, displaying signage at street corners and over-passes (wear trenchcoat, fedora and sunglasses if afraid of exposure), and/or anonymously leaving literature and posting on-line at places where people are likely to find it.

Inform, Educate, Activate
INFORM and EDUCATE. Distribute medical marijuana brochures and other literature to your friends, family, local leaders and elected officials in an effort to educate the public and garner support. Educate your community by Printing, posting and handing out Flyers and other Printables in a mall, coffee shop, laundromat, college campus, lamp post, telephone poll, business window (ask first), hospital, or anywhere people will see them. Law enforcement: They got better things to worry about, but won’t double think busting you.

Where to buy marijuana in Charleston: The better the hookup, the better the weed you are going to get. Though if your a tourist and in an emergency, you should go to CofC, or in/ or around the Music Farm and surrounding parking garages. On the Isle of Palms, look for stoner type/ indie kids, they can usually lead you in the right direction. One tip of advice is never look like a stereo-typical tourist.
Charleston marijuana prices: 1/8=$50;
In 1/8s;
Shwag – 10$;
Beasters – 20- 30$ (Mids);
Kush – 30-50$ (Some Kush is really good though, most of the time though it’s decent);
Northern Lights 50 -70 (50 if you have a hookup, and its readily available. It goes up based on hookup and availibility.);
Black Russian, Afghan Kush, Hash, danker stuff depends on the dealer. But is typically overpriced.
Brands: Mostly Beasters, and Lower of the line Kush. In weeks leading up to holidays, there is a higher demand and better stuff comes.

Anything less and you’re just charged with simple possesion and have your licence suspended if caught while driving.
It’s illegal. Posession of less than an ounce is a 200 dollar fine or so. Posession of more or multiple baggies may get you a distribution charge and jail time.
Law enforcement: The cops on campus are absolute assholes about drugs, they’ve been known to bust into rooms on the mere mention there might be pot. Don’t smoke or sell on campus, you are just asking for trouble. The city cops aren’t as bad though they’d still bust you if they found it. Smoke indoors or on porches and there shouldn’t be a problem.
Where to buy marijuana: Students are the best resource, though on campus the police use narcs alot. I’d recommend looking in town at the bars. Being a college town there are lots of stoners/dealers around. Just be cool about approaching people, be honest and you shouldn’t have trouble finding some bud by the end of the day.
Marijuana prices: 50 an 1/8th, 300 an ounce for decent nugget. For shwag, umm, just don’t buy the shwag here. Some will have it but it’s absolute shit in my opinion. I wouldn’t let my dog smoke it.
Marijuana brands: Some stuff comes from Atlanta with this name or that but mainly it’s just generic BC bud.
More information: I can’t stress the need for discretion on campus. I’ve never been caught there but have had too many close calls in my 9 months of living on campus. Actually more than any other time in my life. Just be cool and explain why you don’t already have some from a friend and you shouldn’t have too much problems. Just look for fellow stoners and be friendly. Oh and dont smoke at tailgates during football season. They ship in like 500 cops for those things and those guys have absolutely nothing better to do for 90 percent of the tailgating time.

Where to buy marijuana in Columbia: You can find it out on farrow road. It’s considered the most dangerous part of columbia but you should be fine. You can find people selling 2 gram dime bags out in front of apartments. You usually need to find someone who can introduce you to people if your looking for Ounces. People out there smoke blunts on their front porch, it’s not hard to find.
Columbia marijuana prices: It’s usually $30-40 for a half ounce and $60-70 for ounces of high-mids. You can find sour diesel and sour apple and dro. Name-Brand costs about 300 an ounce.
Dro is usually 200-240 an ounce.icky-icky.
More information: I wouldn’t suggest giving large amounts of money to people out there to get you bud from a dealer. See if you can go with them, there is a chance you can get jacked. The bud in general is good and very cheap. Every one is selling.

NORML reports that the U.S. Government (The United States of America, as represented by the Department of Health and Human Services) holds patents on various therapeutic cannabinoids found in pot.
And there you have it. The same federal government that steadfastly denies pot has any medicinal value also holds the medical patents on the plant’s various therapeutic cannabinoids. And they aren’t the only ones who do. Click > here < for more.

Multiple places have decriminalized non-medical cannabis in the United States; however, cannabis is illegal under federal law. Gonzales v. Raich (2005) held in a 6-3 decision that the Commerce Clause of the United States Constitution allowed the federal government to ban the use of cannabis, including medical use even if local laws allow it.
Most places that have decriminalized cannabis have civil fines, drug education, or drug treatment in place of incarceration and/or criminal charges for possession of small amounts of cannabis, or have made various cannabis offenses the lowest priority for law enforcement.

Medical marijuana voter guide:
While 25 states and Washington, D.C. have medical marijuana laws, South Carolina’s seriously ill patients remain criminals if they use a treatment option that is safer than many prescriptions. Bipartisan lawmakers have proposed bringing a compassionate law to the Palmetto State, but the proposal was defeated in committee earlier this year (after a subcommittee win).
On Tuesday, November 8, the entire South Carolina Legislature is on the ballot. Please look up your state House and state Senate districts, check out our voter guide, spread the word (shortcut URL: mpp.org/SCvoterguide ), and then get out and vote on Election Day!
Also, please ask your lawmakers to support compassionate medical marijuana legislation. Don’t give up hope! Passing medical cannabis legislation takes time. Polite persistence pays off.

In 2012, marijuana possession arrests (as opposed to arrests for manufacture or sales) accounted for 88% of all marijuana-related arrests in South Carolina. Unfortunately, these arrests affect minority communities in South Carolina most harshly. According to the ACLU, black South Carolinians are almost three times as likely to be arrested as their white neighbors, despite similar use rates. These arrests are made at the expense of preventing and solving violent and property crimes.
Thankfully, South Carolina lawmakers are starting to realize that it’s time to reform the state’s criminal penalties for marijuana possession to free up the necessary time and money to go after violent criminals who cause true havoc in our communities. Rep. Mike Pitts introduced H. 3117, which would have made possession of one ounce or less punishable by a civil fine of $100-200 and would not carry an arrest. While this legislation did not receive a floor vote during the 2015-2016 session, it’s important your legislators hear you support this sensible step forward.
Currently, 21 states — including North Carolina and Mississippi — have removed jail time as a possible penalty for marijuana possession.

LOS ANGELES, March 9 (Xinhua) -- "American hero" Michael Phelps got into deep trouble when he was shown in a photo with a marijuana pipe. Although Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott from South Carolina decided in February not to charge the 14-time Olympic gold medalist, the possible usage of marijuana by Phelps has drawn comprehensive attention on marijuana usage among youngsters and in California and other states, a debate whether to legalize marijuana.
While the U.S. has spent much efforts fighting against drug trafficking and usage, marijuana seemed to be an exemption. Federal law bans any marijuana use, whether for medical purpose or not. But 13 states including California have their own state laws to allow medical use of marijuana.

Medical Marijuana coming to South Carolina?

Two new bills have been proposed in South Carolina which could dramatically alter the political terrain in the War on Drugs.
The first, Senate Bill 220, would enact statewide legal protections shielding
state-authorized patients who use marijuana therapeutically from state
criminal prosecution. This proposal will not alter or interfere with existing state laws discouraging the non-medical, recreational use of marijuana.
Surprisingly, South Carolina’s medical marijuana bill was introduced by Senator William Mescher, a Republican from Pinopolis. Innefective, racist and unnecessarily cruel drug laws have always been a target of reform from the left of the political spectrum despite what should be broad-based appeal. Senator Mescher has become an advocate for medical marijuana reform since the death of his wife from lung cancer.

With state legislatures getting down to business around the country this month, the medical marijuana issue is showing up at the statehouse.

This mind altering drug goes by other names as well; names such as weed, pot, joint, blunt, hash and mary jane are quite common among users. Cannabis is a plant that contains a chemical called cannabinoids or cannabinolidic acids.
Another substance that is found in cannabis is THC, or Tetrahydrocannabinol, which gives the users that “high” sensation. When speaking of marijuana, the actual substance used in creating the high feeling comes from the leaves and flowering tops of the cannabis plant. 1. Since 1996, twelve states have legalized medical marijuana use: AK, CA, CO, HI, ME, MT, NV, NM, OR, RI, VT, and WA. Eight of the twelve did so through the initiative process. Hawaii's law was enacted by the legislature and signed by the governor in 2000, Vermont's was enacted by the legislature and passed into law without the governor's signature in May 2004, Rhode Island's was passed into law over the governor's veto in January 2006, and New Mexico's legislation was signed into law by Governor Bill Richardson on April 2, 2007.
